The Anatomy Behind a Snakebite was initiated by my fascination with snakes; a healthy mix of fear and the utmost respect for their lethal potential. Sparked by my curiosity to understand the biological mechanism behind their fear inducing bite, I undertook a project which focused on the idea of "taking something apart" to expose its underlying workings. The main snake and skeletal illustrations were created using image trace from pre-existing work and photography, while the muscles, glands, and veins were illustrated by myself. The most challenging part of the process was ensuring the various layers of the snake's anatomy aligned properly, as it was determined printing on transparency paper bound in a natural science book would be the best way to allow the viewer to study how the viper administers its deadly venom.
